10: June – Escuela de verano

At the end of June started the summer school of Casal Jove. It’s a five and a half weeks in which the kids come in the morning and come back after lunch. There are six different schools that are open during this week, and everyone of them has four groups of people divided by age. Most of the youth workers that work in Casal Jove during the year are now coordinating one of the schools. Every week every group goes on the beach, a part from the youngest one that goes on the swimming pool. Also, every week we were organizing a water game, and on Friday a big game that lasted all morning. During those weeks, we hired a lot of people to animate the Escuela de Verano, and it was nice to meet a lot of people. I was organizing some games in English, different for every age group, and I had to make them in every school. I think those weeks were the best part of all the project. Changing a lot of groups, I had the possibility to learn a lot from the different workers and to see different approaches and techniques for animating. Repeating the activities, I could improve a lot, and after the first week of trial and error, they started to be really nice. Also, in the groups where I had the possibility to stay a little bit more, I had the possibility to bond with the kids.
