April-May

In April I finally saw my parents again. We did a lot of hiking in Valencia and even spent a few days in Madrid. It’s such a beautiful city with so many amazing places to explore. Before Easter there were many parades with people wearing cloaks and pointed hoods, which was really interesting to watch. The atmosphere was so unique.

Back in Valencia, I quickly slipped back into my routine. The sun has been shining and I’ve been spending a lot of time at the beach.

I also experienced a blackout, which was quite a shock. At first I thought it was just my apartment, but then I realized the whole country was affected. I was alone because my roommate was in Malaga and I had no work that day. It made me realize how dependent we are on certain things. But it also gave me the chance to focus on other things, like reading a book, something I don’t do that much.

During the Easter break I didn’t have much work. We had the mornings off, followed by tardeo in the afternoons. In May my sister arrived and I was so happy to see her again. We’ve been doing some really cool things together.

Unfortunately, my year abroad is slowly coming to an end, which makes me quite sad. Looking back I can’t believe all the things I’ve experienced.

Last Saturday, we went with the little kids to visit a retirement home. It was such a special day because both the elderly residents and the children were so happy. Moments like these make me appreciate this experience even more.
