Last month
It’s hard to believe how quickly time has passed. Now I’m already back in Vienna, writing this blog post and looking back on the past nine months I spent in Spain – which truly was one of the best experiences of my life.
This last month flew by so fast. There was so much going on – lots of visitors, lots of “last times” and of course, lots of goodbyes. Still, I tried to make the most of every single day.
Saying goodbye to the people who became such an important part of my life over the last few months was really tough. You could feel that this wasn’t just a temporary farewell – it was time to truly say goodbye and that hit hard.
One major highlight of the month – and kind of the grand finale of my time abroad – was the Reggaeton Festival in Valencia. Even though I didn’t know all the songs, the vibe was just amazing. Dancing, laughing, living in the moment – it was exactly how I wanted to celebrate the end of this beautiful chapter.
One of the hardest goodbyes was with the kids I had the chance to work with. Saying goodbye to them was really emotional. But I’m so grateful for the time I had with them. They brought me so much joy and I hope I was able to give them something in return.
My last day at work was also filled with emotion. Knowing that I wouldn’t see my colleagues and the kids for a long time was very sad. And of course, saying goodbye to my roommate – someone who became such an important part of my everyday life – was incredibly hard as well.
On my very last day, I went out for a dinner with Awenn. It was such a lovely way to end this amazing chapter – and as if it were a sign, a rainbow appeared in the sky.
Now I’m back in Vienna, holding onto all these beautiful memories. It feels almost surreal. Spain will always have a special place in my heart.
