July in Valencia: between two museums and a bit of routine
July was a month of balance between old and new routines. I continued working at La Lonja de la Seda, which remains busy with tourists — especially Italians — and where I’ve been handling visitor reception and information. The atmosphere is lively, and my connection with some of the staff has grown stronger. We often hang out after work: dinners, beach days, and museum visits — including a trip to the Hortensia Herrero Art Centre.

Even though La Lonja is now my main placement, I went back to the Natural Science Museum twice this month. The first time was to help the director with inventory work, and the second for the pre-inauguration of the newly renovated space. It was interesting to see the changes before the official reopening. After the visit, the usual ritual: a stop with the other volunteers at our go-to spot nearby for a bocadillo.

On July 29th, the museum officially reopened to the public, now under its new name: El Museu Paleontològic de València (The Paleontological Museum of Valencia). I returned to support the team on the opening day and help welcome visitors to the updated space.

All in all, July has been a mix of consistent work at La Lonja, occasional returns to the museum, and enjoying Valencia’s summer rhythm with colleagues and friends.
