The discovery of the city

It has now been two weeks since I arrived in Quart de Poblet, near Valencia, to live this unique experience with a friend. From the very beginning, we have had the chance to explore many places and enjoy a variety of moments. We visited The Umbracle, both during the day and at night when it turns into a club, as well as the City of Arts and Sciences, different gardens, and even tasted some local flavors like tacos and pasta. We also went to the town hall and its museum, the Sirena square and its surroundings, and the Malvarrosa beach. On top of that, we discovered the three centers of the Youth Center and the town of Quart de Poblet. A particularly memorable event was the red alert due to floods: we had to stay confined for an entire day. Luckily, the following day we started working with Zai at the Amagatall center and even took part in a meeting with local young people, which was a great opportunity for exchange.

These two weeks have also taught me a lot. I’ve learned what it’s like to live in a community and to be more independent, for example by doing our first grocery shopping on our own. I’ve figured out how to order a coffee, take the metro, and we also enjoyed discovering bars and clubs. This stay has helped me develop my Spanish while meeting new people, whether they’re English, French, or Spanish. I even experienced my very first red alert in Valencia, which was quite something! For now, everything has been truly enriching and exciting, and I can’t wait to see what the next part of this adventure will bring.
