November in Valencia: Exhibition Launch and Quiet Cultural Visits

The month of November consisted of a series of regular professional activities and support steps for ongoing cultural projects. The overall pace was relatively calm, allowing for a factual approach to tasks and time management.

Unlocking the Past in Cabañal

Part of the work was dedicated to assisting with the preliminary steps for the reinstallation of the Museo de la mar. The museum is set to return to its usual site, the Casa dels Bous, a historic building in the Cabañal neighborhood which is currently undergoing renovation. I helped with the identification and classification of the keys for the Casa dels Bous, a crucial logistical point in site preparation. This mission required several trips to the Cabañal area. A practical benefit of these trips was the immediate proximity to the beach, allowing me to enjoy time by the sea after working hours.

Digital Dissemination

In parallel, the work of publishing content on the City Council’s cultural and heritage service YouTube channel continued. The main action in this area was the online posting of the entirety of the lectures that constituted the Curso de Historia de Valencia, a cycle that took place last October. I have also updated the Museo de Historia de Valencia’s website with the videos’ links to make them accessible to a larger public.

Architectural Insights and Exhibition Prep

A portion of the first half of November was devoted to the final preparations before the opening of the exhibition La València de Francisco Mora. Arquitecto y urbanista. 1875-1961, which took place on November 12th. My assistance was requested for the last-minute adjustments required before the official inauguration. Involvement in this project provided an opportunity to deepen my knowledge of Valencian architecture, particularly the work of Francisco Mora. I was also able to work directly with a variety of artifacts and objects of art integrated into the presentation, notably period plans and architectural models.

Calm Moments and Cultural Exploration

Overall, November proceeded quite calmly regarding regular duties, which allowed time for personal cultural visits. I took advantage of this to go to the Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània (CCCC) to discover the various new exhibitions on display there. The visit was very positive, and the exhibited content sparked great interest, motivating me to plan a second visit soon.

In closing, the month of December will mark both my entry into my thirties and will be the penultimate month of my volunteering period. November therefore served as a productive and varied cycle of work, ensuring the continuity of current projects before the final phase.
